Help your child get ready to read and learn the skills crucial to kindergarten.

Phoenix Public Library offers more than 70 storytimes each week at our 17 locations throughout the valley.  Choose one near you based on the age of your child (baby, toddler or pre-schooler).

Share books, stories, songs, rhymes and music while building pre-reading skills. Children learn letters, that printed words have meaning and that reading is fun.  Parents learn easy ways to continue to build these skills at home.
 
While you're at the library, check out a Culture Pass.  The program offers free admission for two to local cultural institutions, including the Arizona Science Center, Phoenix Zoo, Children's Museum of Phoenix and more.

​Get a Head Start...

 
All children share certain needs: early education, nutritious meals and snacks, and medical and dental services. The Head Start Program helps low-income families meet these needs.
 
Early Head Start is for pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers.  It provides weekly home visits, active learning experiences, socialization events, parenting guidance and education, assistance accessing community resources to meet health and nutrition needs, and services for special needs children.
 
Head Start is a school readiness program for three- and four-year-old children and their families.

The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation offers classes for children birth to five, including arts, sciences, gardening and music.  

First Things First helps children ages birth to five get a quality education, healthcare and family support so that they arrive at school healthy and ready to succeed.  Visit their website to learn more about immunization schedules, injury prevention, car seat safety, and the stages of development for your child at every age.
