Project Features
Proposed improvements include:
- A 10-12' multi-use path for younger cyclists, school-age children, families and pedestrians
- Providing a continuous multi-use bicycle and pedestrian path on both west and east side of 56th street for safety and connectivity
- A 24" storm drain down 56th Street from Thomas Road to Camelback Road to improve drainage
- Low-water use trees for shade adjacent to the sidewalk and multi-use path
- Possible changes or improvements to the existing roundabout at Exeter Boulevard
- Upgraded curb ramps and sidewalks to the latest ADA standards
- Traffic calming features to mitigate speed and improve overall safety
Project MilestonesPhase 2 from Thomas Road to north of Indian School Road is funded for construction
Street Transportation is pursuing funding for Phase 1 from north of Indian School to Camelback Road
Apply for additional funding - Ongoing
Final design phase for the full project began in May 2022
Begin construction on both phases in fall 2025

The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department hereby gives notice that it is the agency's policy to assure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title II of The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related statutes and regulations in all programs and activities.
