Utility Billing Accountant I - Water Customer Services​ - Job ID 56363

The Utility Billing Accountant I performs entry-level, professional accounting work with minimal supervision in a variety of utility billing activities.  The Accountant I will be responsible for performing a variety of complex utility billing and adjustments.  This position also provides first line supervision of employees involved in the performance of clerical accounting work, including accuracy and timeliness of work produced. 

This position requires the ability to complete advanced billing tasks. The Accountant I will be responsible for organizing daily work, reclassifying the appropriate type user based on a field investigation, reviewing and approving adjustments made by staff, responding to complex customer inquiries via verbal and written correspondence, as well as the auditing and maintenance of financial/billing reports. Knowledge of internal policies and applicable city ordinances will be vital to ensuring that appropriate billing actions are taken.  Strong customer service skills with a supervisory background and previous utility billing experience strongly preferred.

Wastewater Treatment Operations & Maintenance Supervisor - Job ID 56442

Pay Range: $74,796.80 - $110,510.40 annually.

The Operations & Maintenance Supervisor provides front-line supervision for a group or section of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technicians, Water Systems Operators, and specialty trades such as machinists, industrial maintenance mechanics, senior utility operators, planner/schedulers, and equipment operators involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater facilities and remote sites. The O&M Supervisor is expected to monitor the technical performance of facilities in their assigned areas and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that all requirements of state and federal regulatory agencies are met.

The O&M Supervisor may also serve as Incident Commander or Emergency Responder in the event of chemical emergencies.

Employees may be required to meet self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) physical examination requirements established by the City designated physician and successfully complete departmental SCBA training/certification requirements as a condition of employment.

These positions will work irregular hours, shifts, weekends, holidays, nights and stand-by.

The Water Services Department is seeking to fill multiple openings for the Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Specialist classification. This classification performs skilled work in the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of all types of electronic instruments and automatic process control equipment used in a water/wastewater treatment system. Examples include, but are not limited to, ultrasonic metering devices, remote terminal units, laboratory analytical equipment, and a wide variety of electronic measuring instruments.​

Positions in the Water Services Department (WSD) may be assigned to perform activities for highly regulated permitting and compliance programs relative to drinking water, wastewater, storm water, industrial pretreatment compliance, commercial inspections, and field sampling and monitoring. Specific duties are dependent on programs to which the position is assigned. Currently there are vacancies in the Environmental Services Division (ESD) of the Water Services Department. These positions work in regulatory compliance programs in conjunction with other ESD Sections, WSD Divisions, and City Departments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal standards for storm water, wastewater, and drinking water.

Opportunity to Underfill at the Water Quality Inspector level.

Individuals that do not meet the minimum requirements below for the Senior Water Quality Inspector may qualify for the opportunity to Underfill at the Water Quality Inspector level. The Water Quality Inspector is an entry level position with emphasis placed on learning job duties. Water Quality Inspectors work under the general supervision of a Chief Water Quality Inspector and work is evaluated through on-site checks, meetings, reports, conferences, and overall results achieved. A Water Quality Inspector must demonstrate proficiency in assigned areas and meet the minimum requirements of the Senior level before being eligible for advancement.
