​​​​​​Phoenix is prepared and excited to welcome you to downtown Phoenix for the 2016 National Championship College Football Playoffs! An unprecedented number of visitors will flock to downtown, and Phoenix is working diligently to create a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors and those who live and work in the downtown area.

Major streets in Downtown Phoenix will remain open. Access to businesses, parking and office towers will be maintained.

Using Public Transportation

Light rail platformPublic Transportation is the best way to get to the Championship Campus Presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community. By taking public transportation, you won’t need to worry about driving or parking.

Make sure to plan your trip and purchase tickets ahead of time. This is a must if you want to avoid lines and travel more seamlessly . Also, consider using Grid Bike Share as a way to get around for short trips in the downtown area. There are hundreds of bicycles available and you pay as yo​u go. Keep in mind some Grid Bike Share stations in Downtown Phoenix may be moved temporarily to a different location during the activities. For more information, visit the Grid Bike Share website

Driving Tips

If you choose to drive to Playoff Fan Central, consider leaving your car at a park-and-ride location and using public transportation to get to downtown. For park-and-ride locations visit the  Valley Metro website.

If you decide to drive downtown, use recommended routes for easiest access. Don't forget to be flexible and allow for additional travel time as some streets will be closed/restricted.

Look for signage to help guide you into Downtown Phoenix, parking facilities and to the airport.

Drivers entering Downtown Phoenix are encouraged to be mindful of pedestrian traffic as Championship Campus will draw a large number pedestrians.

Parking and Parking Meter Information

Approximately 42 public and private parking structures are available throughout the downtown vicinity, totaling more than 27,000 parking spaces at various times throughout the day and night. The main parking structures are located between Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue, from Fillmore to Lincoln Streets. Taxi Zones

During Playoff Fan Central, dedicated taxi zones will be made available in downtown at the following locations:

  • Jefferson Street - Second to First avenues
  • Fifth Street - Monroe to Van Buren streets
  • Third Street - Jackson to Buchanan streets
  • Monroe Street - Second to Third streets
  • First Street - Monroe to Van Buren streets
