    Phoenix's Electric Vehicle Progress

The City of Phoenix is committed to advancing electric vehicle (EV) adoption and infrastructure to support a cleaner, more sustainable future. This page provides key data on EV registrations, the City's transition to an electric fleet, and the growth of EV charging stations. Learn about Phoenix's goals, current progress, and future plans as we work toward expanding EV accessibility and reducing transportation-related emissions.

    EV Registrations

Electric vehicle (EV) registrations are on the rise. In 2022, Arizona ranked #9 among U.S. states for plug-in electric vehicles, with 9.86 EVs per 1,000 people.

Data sources: PEV registration data from Experian Automotive, analyzed by Argonne National Laboratory (accessed December 9, 2022), and U.S. Census Bureau population estimates (December 2022). City of Phoenix – EV Fleet Transition

The City of Phoenix is leading by example by transitioning light-duty fleet vehicles, as well as some solid waste trucks and buses in the heavy-duty fleet, to electric. The TEAP aims to transition 200 fleet vehicles to EVs by 2030. The table below provides details on the current EVs in the fleet and those on order.
