The division is responsible for 6,847 miles of water distribution main, over 55,000 fire hydrants, 160,000 valves and 450,000 service line connections within a 540 square mile service area. Employees in the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic positions are responsible for leading and performing journey-level installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, centrifuges, gearboxes, valves, and valve actuators at water or wastewater treatment plants, reclamation plants, groundwater wells, pumping stations, lift stations, and reservoirs. Work assignments are varied, and employees must be skilled in several mechanical trades including fabrication and millwright.
