How do I send proof of insurance or registration to the Court?
You may scan and attach your proof of insurance and/or proof of registration to an email and send to
court@phoenix.gov, fax to 602-534-3628, or mail a copy to the Phoenix Municipal Court, PO Box 25650, Phoenix, AZ 85002-5650. You must include your name and complaint number with any mail, fax or email.
How do I request a trial/hearing?
You may request a trial/hearing in writing by mail, fax, or email to the Court at least 7 days before your court date. To confirm receipt of any request submitted, call 602-262-6421.
Important: You are required to provide the Court with any changes to your current home address or telephone number(s) until your case has been concluded and all fines and fees have been paid in full. To update your address, call 602-262-6421, fax 602-534-3628, or email
court@phoenix.gov.
When you request a trial/hearing at the Court, please note that you agree to the following statement:
I request a trial/hearing to contest the charges indicated. I enter my plea of not guilty/responsible. I understand I am giving up the option to attend a Defensive Driving class on any charge(s) for which I have requested a trial/hearing.
When requesting a trial/hearing, please include the following information in your correspondence:
Complaint Number (located in the upper left corner of the ticket.)
Charge Number(s) for each charge you want included in the trial/hearing (charge numbers run vertically down the left side of the complaint.)

Once you receive a trial/hearing notice, you must appear as ordered and be prepared to present evidence and examine witnesses in front of the Judge.
If you are found guilty/responsible after a trial/hearing, fines imposed are subject to the sole discretion of the Judge and may not be the same as indicated on the online fine/sanction schedule.
If found guilty/responsible, you must pay any fines/fess imposed on the day of your trial/hearing.
What if I am unable to pay my fines?
If you are required to pay fines, penalties, fees or other financial obligations as a result of a judgment of this court and you are unable to pay, bring this information to the attention of court staff or the judge. Payments over time or other alternatives may be available. Do not ignore your responsibility to pay, as this may result in additional penalties and costs to you. How do I get a refund on my cash bail?
Once authorized by the Judge, the refund should be received within two weeks of a defendant's court date.
There is a warrant out for my arrest, what do I do?
To quash (cancel) a warrant, you have the following two options:
OPTION 1: Submit a written request (motion) by mail or email to the Court:
- If emailing your motion, email it to court@phoenix.gov.
- If mailing by US mail, mail to Phoenix Municipal Court, Correspondence and Research, PO Box 25650, Phoenix, Arizona 85002-5650.
- Include as much of the following identifying information, as possible, that will allow the Court to process your request: (1) Defendant Name; (2) Case or Complaint Number; (3) Date of Birth; and (4) Current Contact Information.
- Explain why you missed your court date or payments and what action you would like the judge to take.
- Submit any documents to support your motion. If emailing your motion, attach the documents to your email. If mailing your motion by US mail, enclose copies of your documents (not originals) in your mailing.
- Request a new payment contract, including the monthly payment amount that you can afford.
Upon receipt of your request, a Judge will review the information you provided and make one of the following decisions:
- Warrant is cancelled and the payment contract has been created.
- Warrant is cancelled and a new court date is scheduled for you to appear.
- Warrant is not cancelled and a Motion Hearing is scheduled to discuss the cancelling of your warrant.
Please allow ten days to receive a response to your request.

Send check or money order (no cash) to Phoenix Municipal Court, PO BOX 25650, Phoenix, AZ 85002-5650. Print your full name, date of birth and case number on your payment instrument.
Over the Phone:
Call (602) 262-6421 to pay the full warrant amount, partial payments will not be accepted.
In Person:
Pay in full by cash, check, or money order at the Phoenix Municipal Court, 300 West Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85003, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding City observed holidays.

Where do I go to get a continuance for my Defensive Driving Class?
You may request a continuance to complete your Defensive Driving Class by submitting a written request to the Court within seven (7) days of your court date. For information call the court at(602) 262-6421.
I went to the Defensive Driving Class, now what happens?
When you complete the class at an Arizona Supreme Court certified school, the school notifies the court of your completion and the charge is dismissed on your record. For further questions, call the Court at(602) 262-6421.
Can I take advantage of the Defensive Driving program for an Arizona citation if I live out-of-state?
If you live out of state and elect to attend the Defensive Driving Program (DDP), you must either complete an online course or return to Arizona to complete an in-person classroom course. You must select a school from the certified list provided on the Arizona Supreme Court website at: https://www.azcourts.gov/drive/Defensive-Driving-Schools.

TRAFFIC SURVIVAL SCHOOL
Why do I have to go to Traffic Survival School?
The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) requires all persons who are found responsible for a red light (28-645) or flashing light (28-647) violation to attend Traffic Survival School (TSS). MVD provides the specific information on school locations, dates and times after they are notified by the Court that a person has been found responsible for one of these violations. ADDITIONAL FEES
I went to jail for my complaints, why do I still owe money?
It is possible that the judge allowed your jail time to be applied to your criminal charges. Civil charges are not eligible for jail credit. For further questions, call the Court at (602) 262-6421.
What is the Court Technology Enhancement Fee?
The Court Technology Enhancement Fee is an ordinance approved by the City Council which authorizes the Court to impose a fee on any case for which there is a fine, sanction, penalty or assessment ordered by the Phoenix Municipal Court. Funds collected will be used to enhance court technology.
