You may request a trial/hearing in writing by mail, fax, or email to the Court at least 7 days before your court date. To confirm receipt of any request submitted, call 602-262-6421.
Important: You are required to provide the Court with any changes to your current home address or telephone number(s) until your case has been concluded and all fines and fees have been paid in full. To update your address, call 602-262-6421, fax 602-534-3628, or email court@phoenix.gov.
When you request a trial/hearing at the Court, please note that you agree to the following statement:
- I request a trial/hearing to contest the charges indicated. I enter my plea of not guilty/responsible. I understand I am giving up the option to attend a Defensive Driving class on any charge(s) for which I have requested a trial/hearing.
When requesting a trial/hearing, please include the following information in your correspondence:
- Complaint Number (located in the upper left corner of the ticket.)
- Charge Number(s) for each charge you want included in the trial/hearing (charge numbers run vertically down the left side of the complaint.)
- Name
- Full Address
- Daytime Phone Number
- Date of Birth
- If you or your witness(es) require an interpreter, specify which language and dialect is needed.

Once you receive a trial/hearing notice, you must appear as ordered and be prepared to present evidence and examine witnesses in front of the Judge.
If you are found guilty/responsible after a trial/hearing, fines imposed are subject to the sole discretion of the Judge and may not be the same as indicated on the online fine/sanction schedule.
If found guilty/responsible, you must pay any fines/fess imposed on the day of your trial/hearing.
