      Graffiti Crimes

      ​​The Graffiti Detail is part of the Technical Investigations Unit of the Property Crimes Bureau. They are responsible for the investigations of both misdemeanor and felony graffiti cases.

      Definition of Graffiti:

      No person may write, paint, draw, etch or otherwise apply any inscription, figure, or mark of any type on any public or private building or other real or personal property, owned, operated, or maintained by a governmental entity or any agency or instrumentality thereof or by any person, firm, or corporation, unless the express permission of the owner or operator of the property has been obtained.

      Misdemeanor graffiti

      • Less than $1,000 in damages

      Felony graffiti

      • More than $1,000 in damages
      • Graffiti is done to a church, school or cemetery
