Commercial Compliance
Commercial Inspection and Fats Oils, and Grease (F.O.G.) Program
The Commercial Inspection Program and compliance with the Fats. Oils, and Grease (F.O.G.) Program ensures the integrity and capacity of the sanitary sewer collection system and prevents the introduction of pollutants that can interfere with wastewater treatment plant operations. Commercial Inspection staff educate and inspect Commercial Users to ensure compliance with Phoenix City Code Chapter 28 (Sewers). Commercial facilities include: food service establishments, hotels, schools, automotive shops, carwash, laundries, apartments, grooming, and other facilities which may pose a concern to the wastewater collection system or treatment plant. Staff also provides similar information for residential users as well.

Stormwater Management for Commerical/Industrial Businesses
Businesses can help protect surface water quality by using Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce the amount of pollutants entering the storm drain system. Businesses that have the potential to pollute stormwater are required under Phoenix City Code Chapter 32C to develop and implement a Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP). SWMPs identify a facility's BMPs (such as good housekeeping, chemical and waste management, and outdoor storage practices) to protect stormwater quality.
