The Youth Firesetter Intervention Program (YFS) an intervention and educational program. It aims to cut the number of fires and burn injuries caused by youth experimenting with fire.
A youth firesetter is a child under the age of 18, who accidentally or purposely starts a fire. Each year youth set fires cause hundreds of injuries and deaths and destroy millions of dollars worth of property. Since 1979, the program has helped youth and their families with issues of fire curiosity, fire experimentation, and fire setting.
