Welcome to South Mountain Environmental Education Center!! 

​S​outh Mountain Environmental Education Center (SMEEC) serves as an education resource center for many of the City's school children, residents and visitors to South Mountain. The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is excited to open the doors once again to visitors so they can learn about the rich wildlife and culture Phoenix has to offer. 


**Closure Notice**

In preparation for the South Mountain Park & Preserve centennial stewardship celebration, the South Mountain Environmental Education Center will close for renovations starting June 17, 2024, and is expected to reopen in the fall of 2024.
