I am a HeadsUp! Kid:

I always look left, right, and left again before crossing the street and make sure I have enough time to cross.

I read and follow all roadway signs and devices. They are there for my protection.

I won’t assume drivers will see me. I may not be visible to them.

I will stay alert. I won’t walk or cross streets while distracted.

I will be visible by wearing bright clothing during the day and carry a flashlight or wear reflective clothing at night.

I will walk facing oncoming traffic so I can see it easily.

I always cross the street at marked or signalized intersections, where drivers expect to see me.

I make eye contact with drivers to make sure they see me and they are not distracted.

I don’t try to cross until cars have stopped.

Whenever possible, I stay on the sidewalks and cross the street at a crosswalk.
