The City of Phoenix is strongly committed to reducing air pollution and protecting public health. The primary air quality concerns in Phoenix are ozone and particulate pollution (dust and smoke). The city implements a wide range of air quality programs to reduce the amount of these pollutants produced by City operations. The city also has city code that limits some activities conducted across the municipality that produce pollution, such as banning blowing landscape debris into public roadways (PCC 32C-103), restricting vehicle parking and use on unstabilized vacant lots (PCC 36-145 and 36-62), and restricting off-road vehicle use on unpaved surfaces (PCC 23-85.01B1, 24-51, and 36-145A).

The City works in coordination with the Maricopa County Air Quality Department, which is the air quality regulatory authority for the region. See the links below for more information on the City of Phoenix and Maricopa County programs.
