Stormwater

Green Stormwater Infrastructure (or GSI) is a suite of design elements that can be used in yards, parking lots, street landscape strips and medians, and more. GSI uses plant or soil systems, permeable pavement, or other permeable surfaces for stormwater harvest and reuse to store, infiltrate, or evapotranspirate stormwater, and to help improve stormwater quality before it enters the public storm drain system or surface waters. There are many types of GSI including bioswales, bioretention systems, curb openings, and permeable pavement.
