Colter Street Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement Project

The Phoenix Street Transportation had proposed safety and connectivity upgrades for pedestrian and bicycle use along Colter Street between 15th Avenue and 20th Street.

Camelback Road, Missouri Avenue and Bethany Home Road, which run parallel to Colter Street, have extensive business, commercial and office park activity that increase opportunities for vehicles turning into and out of driveways. Since most car-bike or car-pedestrian collisions occur when drivers are turning, a street such as Colter Street offers a safer alternative for those walking or riding bikes.

Colter Street is a collector street, and there is no consideration as part of this project to close any section of this 3.3-mile corridor to vehicle traffic.

    2024 Project Update

A design for the proposed upgrades for this corridor has not been finalized and no construction is planned or scheduled.

The Phoenix Street Transportation Department project team anticipates providing an update to the community in fall 2024. Please follow this page, or the department's Public Meetings webpage, for information about future public engagement opportunities.
