Staff distributes flyers, activity books for school children, and a biannual newsletter, and presenting to industry groups. Stormwater Awareness week is held the 4th week of January, and includes a public workshop on the stormwater management program and best management practices.

The City of Phoenix conducts a variety of stormwater-related public awareness activities, including attending public events and festivals.
Outreach and Education
The City of Phoenix also is a member of the Stormwater Outreach for Region Municipalities (STORM) organization. STORM coordinates stormwater outreach activities throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area, including radio advertisements, social media, and professional conferences.

Important Points Taught to Attendees of Outreach Events: Everyday Actions You Can Do
1. Only rain in the storm drains! Stormwater flows untreated to our rivers, washes, and retention areas.
2. Put trash and recyclables in their place.
3. Clean up after your pet.
4. Apply lawn-chemicals sparingly and follow manufacturer's directions.
5. Properly dispose of leftover paint and household chemicals at a household hazardous waste event.
