Cooling Tower Program

drawing of an industrial cooling towerCooling towers are devices that remove heat from a building through evaporation. Nearly all large facilities in the Valley have cooling towers, but they consume substantial volumes of water. As part of the checkup, City staff may assess if your facility could benefit from cooling system retrofits. If so, any upgrades or retrofits may be eligible for funding through BlueCommons, a fiscally sponsored project of the New Venture Fund. BlueCommons will offer eligible City customers the opportunity to enter into innovative financing agreements to cover the costs of cooling system upgrades. Repayment obligations for financing would be associated with city-verified water savings achieved through such upgrades. Please contact conservation@phoenix.gov for more information.
