What is Neighborhood College?
Neighborhood College is a one-of-a-kind collaboration of in-person and virtual workshops, and hands-on learning experiences brought to you by multiple city departments and external partners. The intent of the program is to provide each participant with knowledge about the city's programs, services and resources; the tools to access those resources; and the skills and ideas with which to build positive, sustainable communities.

Block Watch Grant Writing Workshop - Hybrid
When: Wednesday, November 12 ~ 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Where: Washington Activity Center; 2240 W Citrus Way, Phoenix or Virtual through Webex
Whether you are a first time Block Watch grant writer, or have been writing grants for years, join us to discuss how to apply for Block Watch grant safety and crime prevention supplies and projects. We'll talk about how your group can apply for and use Block Watch grant funds. Join us for an interactive and informative session.
In-person attendance is highly recommended for collaboration and idea sharing. WebEx will be offered for those unable to attend in-person. This is NOT the application training provided by the Neighborhood Block Watch Grant Program (NBWGP).

Paint Sprayer Training

Where: NSD West Facility, 3325 W. Flower St.
Learn how to keep your neighborhood graffiti-free by using a paint sprayer (which you can rent for free after completing the workshop), tour the warehouse and see other tools and supplies available to residents. To register, call 602-534-4444.

Revitalizing Your Neighborhood: Pass the Brush
Is your neighborhood in need of a facelift? Are you wanting to increase your property value? Resident Jack Sandner, from Trails North neighborhood, shares in his presentation how he was able to turn his dated neighborhood into a vibrant beautiful one.
Topics covered: Engaging Your Neighbors and Community; Working with the Neighborhood Services; Creating a Project Plan; Funding the Project; Sustaining the Project.
A variety of topics are discussed in the Code Compliance 101 Workshop. The video presentation helps participants learn about NSD's Code Enforcement Policy, the eight most common blight violations, the code enforcement process, the court citation process, how and where to report blight and other issues to the city, information on volunteer programs and other resources available.

Zero Waste 2050
Neighborhood College is made possible through a partnership with the Phoenix Public Works Department, leading the charge for Phoenix to become zero-waste by 2050.
