    Volunteer Programs

Neighborhood Services' Volunteer Program aims to meet community needs by harnessing the power of volunteers and community partners.   From training Blight Buster Volunteers to remove graffiti, to helping residents in need through our Compliance Assistance Program - we do it all in an effort to reduce blight and improve Phoenix neighborhoods.

We invite you to take action in your community!  Take a look at our programs and volunteer opportunities below and become a volunteer with NSD.

    • Graffiti removal.
    • Community cleanups.
    • Tree planting and educating residents about sustainable plans for trees.
    • Assist neighborhood groups completing a petition for the Gated Alley Program (GAP) by obtaining and verifying signatures.
    • Delivering portable a/c units to residents with inoperable A/C units during the summer months.
    • Provide clerical support to NSD.
    • Host an NSD informational table at community events.
    • Help bring a property owner or resident to be in compliance with the City code through NSD's Compliance Assistance Program - Residents may seek help if they have code violations and are not able to bring the violation into compliance due to financial or physical reasons. These cases are referred to the program by a city inspector. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for groups, faith-based organizations or companies interested in volunteering their time, sponsoring the removal of dead trees or donating in-kind services for tree removal, landscaping and yard maintenance.

Volunteers lend a hand during a neighborhood cleanup for the Amigos Neighborhood Group.
