It is illegal to discriminate on the following bases in the sale, lease, rental, insuring or financing of housing:
- Sex
- Race
- Color
- Religion
- Disability
- National origin
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity or expression
- Familial status (pregnancy or children under age 18)
It is also illegal to retaliate against a party for filing a complaint of housing discrimination or against a party that cooperates in an investigation.
The Equal Opportunity Department investigates housing discrimination complaints that have occurred within the city of Phoenix.
