    Building Construction Codes

    Building codes are published to meet the needs of local jurisdictions charged with enforcement of building standards for construction and use and are updated to reflect the latest standards.

    The Planning & Development Department (PDD) is currently reviewing the 2024 International Code, the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code, and the 2023 National Electrical Code for possible adoption in 2025. 

    Public meetings are currently being held to review Phoenix Building Construction Code Amendments.

    2018 City of Phoenix Building Construction Codes

    On June 6, 2018, the Phoenix City Council approved the adoption of the 2018 Phoenix Building Construction Code (PBCC).

    Amendments were approved in the following order: Code Committee(s), Development Advisory Board (DAB) Technical Subcommittee or DAB Administrative Subcommittee, full Development Advisory Board (DAB), Downtown, Aviation, Economy, and Innovation (DAEI) Subcommittee and the Formal City Council.

    ADA Codes are referenced in the 2018 International Building Code, as well as ICC A117.1-2009 and the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.
