Historic Property Registers

​​​​​​​Eligible properties in Phoenix may be listed on two different historic registers - the Phoenix Historic Property Register​ and the National Register of Historic Places.​ Although the process for listing properties differs for each register, the eligibility criteria​ are the same.

• Listing a Property on the Phoenix Historic Property Register
  In Phoenix, properties listed on the Phoenix Historic Property Register receive Historic Preservation (HP) or Historic Preservation-Landmark (HP-L) overlay zoning from the Phoenix City Council. Properties listed on the Phoenix Historic Property Register may be eligible for historic preservation incenti​ves. To determine whether a property is eligible for listing on the Phoenix Historic Property Register, it is important to thoroughly research the property and evaluate its historic significance.
