The department's ongoing pavement maintenance program provides opportunities to change the current traffic lane striping to improve safety for people who drive a motor vehicle, ride a bike, walk and use public transit. There are still other projects that are part of the City's Capital Improvement Program that also include active transportation infrastructure.
Active Transportation Projects

The Phoenix Street Transportation Department works to maintain and improve roadways Citywide, creating a safe and efficient transportation network. Active Transportation projects are roadway modifications to improve accessibity to those traveling on rights-of-way on foot, and by other means that include wheeled or other mobility devices.
